Operation "Acoustic Kitty"

I was listening to Fresh Air on NPR for the first time in a while last night, and was introduced to "Operation Acoustic Kitty", which has got to be one of the coolest potential band-names that I've ever heard.

Here's the gist of it:

"In a project known as “Acoustic Kitty” the Directorate of Science and Technology sought to train a surgically altered cat, wired with transmitting and control devices, to become a mobile, eavesdropping platform. In its first test, the cat was run over by a taxi."

The project was uncovered by the fine folks at The National Security Archive, so no, I'm not making this up...

Is it 2007 yet?

It's only January 5th, and already I'm off to a fabulous start.

For starters, my computer has become unusable, so I've lost many files that were vital to the maintenance of this site as well as the various other blogs and Myspace pages that were being run out of Team Goldenstar headquarters. For the time being, you may not notice much of a difference, apart from the fact that I won't be posting as much. If, however, the uploaded photos crash or become unnavailable, then they cannot be replaced and these sites will all be redesigned. A headache, yes, but what else am I gonna' do?

Oh, that's right... I will also be working a lot of overtime in the next month or so, which will put a bite in my posting as well. Hopefully Digit and Devilgetout will pick up some of the slack while I'm gone (hint, hint).

So, for the time being, I'll be posting less and waiting to see what can be salvaged. Watch this space for further developments, and thanks for your patience.
